How
to become a member
Below are details of our membership and our current scale of contributions.
If you are considering membership, you can apply to join now or
you could consider becoming an ‘enquirer’ into membership.
Becoming an ‘enquirer’ means that we will send you Consortium
papers for six months and you are welcome to come to two of the
Consortium quarterly meetings before you decide whether to join.
Please let us know if you would like to take advantage of this.
When we hear from you, we will start sending you all the mailings,
including the monthly ‘Bulletin’. At the end of this
six-month period, we will contact you to ask whether you want to
join.
Membership
The Consortium on AIDS & International Development is open to
all civil society organisations that are based in the UK and are
concerned about issues of HIV/AIDS and development. Membership of
the Consortium automatically includes membership of the ‘Stop
AIDS Campaign’, the campaigning arm of the Consortium.
[See: http://www.stopaidscampaign.org.uk
for further information on the Campaign.]
Members receive all Consortium papers and publications, including
our monthly ‘Bulletin’ and ‘Weekly News &
Press Releases’, have full voting rights and can stand for
membership of the Executive Committee. They are entitled to free
copies of publications and to reduced registration fees for Consortium
conferences and seminars.
Membership is organisational rather than individual, so several
individuals from one member organisation can come to meetings or
attend seminars and conferences. We can also send out more than
one set of papers to large organisations with several interested
departments.
If you are eligible and want to be a member, contact the Consortium
to obtain our Articles of Association, and once you have read them
write or e-mail us to say that you agree with these, would like
to join and are able to give a membership contribution. You must
also let us know the level of contribution which is right for your
organisation (see the scale below).
Observer status
Organisations which are not civil society organisations but would
like to be fully in touch with all that the Consortium is doing
and attend meetings, working groups seminars and conferences can
be Observers. Observers receive the same information as Members,
unless such information is of concern only to NGOs (which rarely
happens). Observers are asked to contribute in the same way as members.
Individuals
Although membership is not open to individuals, the Consortium does
not want to exclude those who could contribute to and benefit from
its information and networking function. Individuals can receive
information and attend meetings. A financial contribution is required.
If you would like to take this up, please write or e-mail the Consortium
Co-ordinator with details of your work and its relevance to focus
of the Consortium.
